Love this Video

I am not a huge Buffet fan, but love this video.

A New Doghouse

No, it is not for me. We use a Honda 2000 generator for supplemental power and store it on the aft deck. I cover it with a tarp but it is still exposed to the weather quite a bit. I decided to build a box for it to reside in and have a lot more protection. I finished it this week and was very pleased with it. Sharon, on the other hand, said it looked like a doghouse. She also said that it looked home made. I told her I prefer to think of it as hand crafted, and because I liked it so much I consider it gourmet hand crafted. In all seriousness though I am quite pleased with it. I made it out of 1/2" starboard (plastic board). Although the Honda is really quiet the enclosure made it even quieter.

Caution, Philosophy Ahead

Caution, philosophy ahead, abort now if you do not want to hear it.

Sitting on the flybridge, watching the sunset, listening to music and thinking (I know that is dangerous). I went to the cardiologist today as I have been having chest pain again. Next week I have to get another stress test. Maybe that is what got me to thinking. Thinking about lots of things, the sunset, the boat, the Keys, the beautiful clear water, My two daughters, my  father-in-law. Thinking of how happy and sad I can be at the exact same time. Happy that I  am living in paradise on a boat watching the sunset every night, but missing my girls. Then my thoughts turned to my father- in-law who died of colon cancer when he was 48 years old. I am now 56. I have already had 8 years more than him. We were in Australia when he died. I was 29 at the time and 48 seemed ancient. I realize now that  he was just a pup. I can't even imagine having missed the last eight years much less what the future holds. I would like to pretend I understand, but I don't have a clue. I am just thankful for the time He has given me and want to take advantage of every minute.

I took a break from my "thinking"  and went down to use the head, as I was returning to the main saloon my wife who was already in bed motioned for me to come over and give her a kiss on the way. I obliged much to my own dismay as she then smelled the Frito's corn chips on my breath (a rare treat on our diet) and then I was in trouble. Oh well this is not the first time I have been in trouble and probably won't be the last. She of course wanted some as well and I had no choice but to give her some. Marriage is the funniest, most serious, strangest, most natural, hardest, easiest, strangest, most natural, heaven and hell relationship you will ever be in. Lol

I love looking at the palm trees lit up at night.

Cool Pic

I was sitting on the flybridge last evening watching the sunset and saw this off the port side. It looks like a bomb went off. Sunset is my favorite time of the day.

Getting Things Ready

We are getting things ready to go (again). It seems every time we get ready to go something happens and we end up not going. Hopefully this time will be different. I have been working on the boat adding a few new things.

Adding a new wind generator. I had to make a bracket to mount it to the mast.

I think it will work out well as a supplement to the solar panels.

We also bought new anchor chain. 200" of 5/16 G4 chain. The paint marks are every 25" so we know how much we are letting out. Orange is 25'. blue is 50', Orange/blue is 75', green is 100', then the marking start going down again so that I can reverse the chain every year or so.

Measuring the chain.

Marking the chain.

I am officially sick of it

It has been raining for days. I got up this morning and looked at the 10 day forecast. Guess what 10 more days of rain.

The night before last I took these pics from our flybridge. At one point we saw three at the same time. Glad they did not come our way.
